Beijing is the capital of China, known for its iconic Forbidden City - the world's largest palace complex and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The main gate, Tiananmen (Gate of Heavenly Peace), represents over 500 years of imperial Chinese history and remains one of the most recognizable symbols of China, serving as the ceremonial entrance to the vast imperial palace that housed 24 emperors across two dynasties.
